Etsy is an e-commerce marketplace where all the listed items are either handmade or vintage. Independent artists and crafters can sell any handmade items they created on Etsy. Unique and vintage items can also be found here although items have to be 20 years old and above to be considered vintage. It’s free to start a shop and create a new account for Etsy but, there are some fees that Etsy sellers have to pay when listing products.

Just like any other e-commerce platform, people also use Etsy bots to automate and do tasks efficiently on it. There are a lot of uses for bots on Etsy, which are mostly used to create and manage multiple accounts. Other reasons may use it to expedite the purchasing process and some may even use it to boost their own accounts. Whatever the case may be, using Etsy bots for automation also necessitates the use of Etsy proxies.

Etsy has a anti-spam system where it would detect Etsy accounts that use bots and immediately ban it. To circumvent this, the use of a proxy for Etsy is needed. Proxies work as an intermediary between your computer and the internet. This hides your IP address from Etsy and only lets Etsy see the proxy server’s IP address. With the use of either residential proxies or datacenter proxies, you can effectively use bots without getting banned.

A proxy for Etsy is also useful when your account has been banned. Similar to how a vpn works, a proxy can also make you appear as a different person from a separate location to your own, enabling you to access Etsy and override the block.

Let’s get started on how to create an Etsy proxy server.

Note: Make sure that the web browser you’re using for Etsy is set to automatically copy your computer’s proxy settings. Google Chrome automatically does this, so it’s recommended to use it.

  1. Turn on Use a proxy server
  2. Input both server address and port number
  3. If you have any addresses you would like to visit without a proxy, enter them here
  4. Turn on Don’t use the proxy server for local addresses check box if you want to access a local server without a proxy
  5. Click Save

This should then redirect you to MacOS proxy settings. MacOS is more straightforward compared to windows. You only have one option which is to manually configure your proxy server.

Here are the steps to follow:

  1. Select which proxy IP protocol you want to configure. This depends on which protocols your proxy service provider offers.
  2. Turn on Secure Web Proxy
  3. Input the Proxy Server Address and Port Number
  4. Click OK to save the configurations

Note: You may be prompted for your Mac user password to save your settings.
