Memrise is a language learning platform where users are learning a language from native speakers. It is based in the United Kingdom and has recorded over 60 millions users worldwide. Memrise is available in nearly all devices and you can learn over 20 languages. Do note that there are less available languages in mobile compared to their website.

The number of language courses available in Memrise means that there is a lot of valuable data to extract. Manually collecting all of that data though would take a lot of time and effort, so you need a web scraper bot to do the job for you. A web scraper will gather data much faster than you possibly can.

Most websites have strict restrictions against the use of bots on their website. Any account caught using one will have their IP address immediately banned from accessing the site again. To prevent your account and IP address from being banned, you need to pair your scraper bot with a Memrise proxy.

A Memrise proxy will act as an intermediary between your device and the internet. It will handle all of your web requests for you so any website you visit will only be able to see the IP address of the proxy server and your own IP address will be hidden. By continuously rotating proxies, your bot would have a different IP address each time it sends a number of requests which completely deceives any website into thinking that your bot’s requests are from genuine users.

Let’s set up an Memrise proxy server.

Note: Make sure that the web browser you’re using for Memrise is set to automatically copy your computer’s proxy settings. Google Chrome automatically does this, so it’s recommended to use it.

For Windows:

To set up proxies in Windows, simply search for “Proxy Settings” in your windows search bar and open the search result.

For Mobile:

To set up a Memrise proxy server for your mobile device, simply change your phone’s proxy settings. The Memrise mobile app will automatically copy your phone’s proxy settings whenever you use it. This is applicable for both Android and iOS. Here’s a thorough guide for Android and another one for iPhone.

Congratulations! You have now finished configuring your Memrise proxy server. Note that the first time you visit it, there will be a pop up asking for your login credentials.
